After securing a decisive 42-28 triumph against UTEP on the road last Saturday, Liberty advanced two spots in the Associated Press rankings, maintaining their position at No. 22 in the Coaches Poll.
The Flames’ consistency is reflected in their consecutive appearances in the Associated Press poll for four weeks and back-to-back weeks in the Coaches Poll, marking a significant milestone for the program and a breakthrough moment occurred recently when Liberty entered the College Football Playoff rankings for the first time, securing the No. 25 spot.
This season, Liberty has set a new standard in school history, boasting an impeccable 12-0 record overall and an impressive 8-0 standing in their inaugural season as a member of Conference USA. Their remarkable performance has earned them the right to host the CUSA Football Championship game on December 1 against New Mexico State.
Since ascending to the FBS level in 2018, Liberty has achieved national rankings in three seasons (2020, 2022, and 2023), accumulating 14 weeks in the Associated Press rankings and 11 weeks in the Coaches poll.
The previous year, the team held the No. 23 position in both polls on October 30. It surged to No. 19 following a historic victory over Arkansas, marking the program’s inaugural triumph over an SEC opponent.
