Ariana Grande’s latest release, “Yes, And?”, has claimed the top spot in this week’s new music poll. Music enthusiasts participated in a Billboard poll published on Friday (Jan. 12), declaring the pop icon’s much-anticipated single as their favourite new music drop of the week.

With an impressive 77% of the votes, “Yes, And?” surpassed the new releases from Jennifer Lopez (“Can’t Get Enough”), Lil Nas X (“J Christ”), Kali Uchis (“ORQUÍDEAS”), 21 Savage (“American Dream”), and more.

Marking her comeback, Grande unveiled the late-’80s-inspired single “Yes, And?” last Friday. Infused with confidence, the lively track serves as the lead from her eagerly awaited seventh album, teased online since late December.

The song revolves around its playful title, as Grande sings about healing and moving beyond the influence of others’ opinions. She repeatedly asks, “Yes, and?” urging listeners to question why they invest so much in commenting on her life, with the hope of discouraging such actions in the future.

In the music video for “Yes, And?”, Grande dons a ballet-inspired ensemble and character shoes, complemented by a hat paying tribute to icons like Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul. Directed by Christian Breslauer, the video draws inspiration from Abdul’s “Cold Hearted,” embracing the ’80s vibe of the song.

Grande’s previous official release was 2020’s “Positions,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album spawned a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with its title track.

Her return to the music scene follows a hiatus during which she prioritized her R.E.M. Beauty makeup business and her role in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked,” where she’ll portray Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba.

Trailing “Yes, And?” in the poll is Lopez’s breezy “Can’t Get Enough,” securing 5% of the vote. The summery track is accompanied by a cinematic, wedding-themed video directed by Dave Meyers, subtly referencing the singer’s love life.
