WIT Studio, in collaboration with Netflix, has officially announced a remake anime project for “ONE PIECE,” commencing with the revered East Blue saga and teasing viewers with a glimpse of ‘Romance Dawn.’ This marks the title of the inaugural manga chapter and serves as the debut episode for the upcoming live-action series. The proclamation took place during Jump Festa 2024, where a plethora of new details regarding the ongoing anime were unveiled.
Netflix has provided insight into the project, stating:
“A recreation of the original ‘ONE PIECE’ manga narrative, embarking from the East Blue arc, ‘THE ONE PIECE’ is set to arrive on Netflix!”
Preceding this announcement, it was revealed that the anime produced by Toei Animation will feature fresh opening and ending musical compositions before delving into the Egghead Island arc. Scheduled to commence on January 7, the voice actors for Vegapunk and his satellites were also disclosed.
Eiichiro Oda’s “ONE PIECE” manga debuted in July 1997, surpassing 500 million circulating copies by August 2022. The series celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, while the anime adaptation commenced in October 1999 and continues to thrive. Initially estimated to conclude within 4-5 years around 2020, the manga presently spans 1101 chapters, while Toei Animation’s anime adaptation boasts 1088 episodes. VIZ Media holds the English licensing rights for the manga, and Crunchyroll streams the anime series. Describing the storyline:
