The much-anticipated live-action Snow White is set to hit theaters on March 21, 2025. Disney recently released the first teaser trailer for this reimagined classic, giving fans a glimpse into what promises to be a captivating retelling of the 1937 animated original.

Premiering at D23 on August 9, the teaser showcases the new direction of this beloved story. As Disney teased on Instagram with a red apple emoji, “Disney invites you to return to the story that started it all.”

Directed by Marc Webb, the live-action “Snow White” wrapped up filming in July 2022. The film stars Rachel Zegler as the iconic Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, bringing new depth and dimension to these timeless characters. The seven dwarfs—Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Sleepy, and Doc—will also return, adding familiar charm to the updated narrative.

Unlike the original, the 2025 adaptation promises to “expand” on the classic storyline. With new songs from the Oscar-winning and Tony-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and production by Marc Platt, the movie aims to resonate with both new audiences and longtime fans of “Snow White.”

Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, revealed in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the 2022 D23 Expo that she approached the role with great seriousness. “I wanted to ensure the Queen remained delightful and delicious while exploring what makes her tick. The evilness had to be interesting, not just one-dimensional,” Gadot explained.

She emphasized the complexity of the Evil Queen’s character, describing her relationship with Snow White as akin to a “mother-daughter” dynamic, albeit in a twisted way. “It’s about what happens to a woman when she feels she’s no longer relevant and the dark emotions that can emerge,” Gadot added.

Gadot also shared her positive experience working with Rachel Zegler on the set of “Snow White.” “Neither of us are the type of actors who just retreat to our trailers between takes. We all stayed on set, creating a wonderful, communal atmosphere. That chemistry really shines through onscreen,” she said.

The live-action “Snow White” is poised to be one of the standout films of 2025, blending nostalgic elements with fresh perspectives. Mark your calendars for March 21, 2025, when “Snow White” returns to theaters to enchant a new generation.
