After 11 years of marriage, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied have officially divorced. The separation was confirmed by a representative for Portman, stating that the Oscar-winning actor quietly filed for divorce from the French choreographer in July in France, where the couple had been residing with their two children. The divorce process was completed last month.
Variety reached out to representatives for Portman and Millepied for comments, but there has been no immediate response.
Portman and Millepied initially crossed paths on the set of “Black Swan,” the film that earned Portman the Best Actress Oscar in 2010. They exchanged vows in California in August 2012 and are parents to a 12-year-old son, Aleph, and a 7-year-old daughter, Amalia.
Recently, Portman starred in Todd Haynes’ “May December” alongside Julianne Moore and Charles Melton, a film nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the upcoming Oscars. Portman received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Elizabeth Berry in the movie, where she plays an actress studying the life of a controversial woman (Moore) she is set to portray in a film. Her upcoming projects include Guy Ritchie’s heist film “Fountain of Youth” with John Krasinski and the Apple TV+ limited series “Lady in the Lake,” which she is also producing.
Millepied, on the other hand, contributed his choreography skills to Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” where he created the sandwalk scene for Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya’s characters to avoid giant sandworm attacks. Additionally, he made his directorial debut in 2022 with “Carmen,” a musical drama featuring Melissa Barrera and Paul Mescal.
