Rapper Fatman Scoop, the New York City musician famed for his hit track “Be Faithful,” has tragically passed away at the age of 53. The rapper, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, died after collapsing mid-performance during a free concert in Hamden, Connecticut, according to reports.
Fatman Scoop was headlining the “Green & Gold Party” at Town Center Park when he suddenly suffered a medical emergency. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 8:33 p.m., as bystanders performed chest compressions behind the DJ booth screen.

Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett shared the news on Facebook, confirming that the rapper experienced a medical emergency before being taken to the hospital. She urged the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
The news of Fatman Scoop’s passing was officially announced on social media by his tour manager, DJ and producer Birch Michael, also known as Pure Cold. “It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Issac Freeman III, professionally known as Fatman Scoop,” Michael wrote. “I am honestly lost for words… you took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet.”
Fatman Scoop’s iconic 1990s club anthem “Be Faithful” earned him widespread fame, with millions of views online. He also featured on Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control,” which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2005.
The rapper was initially scheduled to perform at the Hamden event last month, but the concert was postponed due to inclement weather.
